Shot in the marshes of EverGlades Park, Florida. This bird does not mate for first three years and thereafter it finds a partner and mates for life. If the partner dies the other one dies too soon after. They are the Romeo-Juliet of the marshes.
Trivia: The bird’s large feet enable it to walk atop aquatic plants (such as spatterdock) in search of food.
It came running to our boat atop the aquatic plants.
